Upcoming E-book Q&A (Food Consumed Me: How I Overcame Food Addiction)

Upcoming E-book Q&A (Food Consumed Me: How I Overcame Food Addiction)

So I’ve come to realize that people have questions about my upcoming e-book. I’m here to answer those questions for you. This is what you can expect from the upcoming e-book “Food Consumed Me: How I Overcame Food Addiction.”

Question: Why did you write this e-book?

Answer: I wrote this e-book with a vision in mind. I know I will not be able to talk to thousands of people in ONE day. I want to personally talk to people who are struggling with food addiction. To make that a reality, I decided to write an e-book geared towards that subject. I wrote this book to communicate the reality of food addiction. The reality is.. it’s killing us. It’s giving us a bad quality of life. It’s robbing us from becoming the best versions of ourselves that we can be. We weren’t created to go to food as a crutch. We were created for more than that.

Question: What can we expect from this e-book?

Answer: You can expect my heart. You can expect me to share my personal journey with battling food addiction. I want my readers to take a journey with me to see where I’ve been, and how I’ve overcome it. You can expect to find the answers you have been looking for. Some of them you may have already heard, and some that, if applied, could change your life forever.

Question: Will this work for me?

Answer: This has the potential to change you, the reader. It has potential to help you take charge of life again. If you apply what you read, you can be a different person. You can overcome the addiction and start new again. You don’t have to be that person that’s battling food addiction day in and day out. You can be the person who looks at food, and takes ownershiJunkaddictionp over it.

Question: Anything else?

Answer: My heart is to help. Again, I am not the answer. But I point you to the answer. I want my readers to start the ONE STEP journey with me. The process may be overwhelming at the start, but it will be well worth it. It just comes down to us following through with our commitments. I encourage you, love yourself enough to make a change. Don’t hurt yourself any longer. Food can be destructive. A life of destruction will end in destruction. Let’s do this. It all starts with ONE STEP.

My e-book will be available on July 15th. It has the potential to change your life. If it worked for me it can work for you. Let me help you.

#transformationtuesday (Here’s How You Can Transform Your Body!)

#transformationtuesday (Here’s How You Can Transform Your Body!)

Transformation Tuesday is probably my favorite day of the week. I love reading about the stories of people who once had an obstacle in front of them, to people who have overcome those obstacles. Some of us look at those stories and we think, “why not me?” I want to encourage you. It can be you! You just have to take the step to do be transformed. How awesome would it be to see yourself featured on one of my Transformation Tuesday blogs? You can be the example to inspire many people to become healthier, and to overcome obstacles. It just takes YOU making ONE STEP to better yourself.

I want to share some FREE advice on how to TRANSFORM YOUR BODY!

1. Make up your mind. – CHOOSE IT! If you don’t choose to be overcome, then it just won’t happen. You can’t start something with a half-hearted approach and believe you will come out on top. That isn’t how it works. If I wasn’t serious about losing weight, I never would have done it. I had a HUGE obstacle to face. 799lbs was not an easy weight to overcome. Discouragement? YES! Frustration, YES! There was a constant battle going on in my mind. I wanted to give up at times, but I KNEW that I couldn’t. I wouldn’t! I had to overcome this. So I did. I am thankful to God that He helped me through that.

2. Be the example others look at. – Just overcoming weight issues or obstacles for yourself is nice, but how much better to do it for others? How many others are in our shoes? How many others need someone to lead them, encourage them, inspire them? You could be that person. Don’t rob the world of who YOU ARE and what YOU CAN DO. You will not believe the feeling of being looked at as an example. I stay humble. My answer? I am just an instrument pointing to  The One who helped me through this. I’m not the answer, but I am used to show you the answer.

I hope this helps. I am excited to see more Transformation Tuesday stories. You can be the next person to inspire many. I am praying that my readers will take that to heart.

#transformationtuesday Meet Greg Newkirk! Once Unable To Walk, But Now….

#transformationtuesday Meet Greg Newkirk! Once Unable To Walk, But Now….

I am excited to introduce my good friend, Greg Newkirk to you. Greg has an amazing story. I don’t want to spoil it for you. Check it out for yourself.

Greg shares the following…
(Romans 8:31) “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?”

This Bible verse speaks right to the heart of where I am today. However, this was not always the case. While working at an Electronic Supply Company in 1994, a 110 pound roll of welding wire fell on both of my feet, crushing the soft tissue and damaging the nerves beyond repair. After a trip to the ER, I found that no bones were broken. I was relieved to find out that I would be back to work in less than a week.
Little did I know, that day would change my life forever.

After about a week, the pain didn’t go away. On the contrary, the pain got worse! I visited every doctor I could find, yet none of them could find a cause for these painful symptoms. The longer time went on, the more severe my pain became. To say the least, I was frustrated. Finally, after nearly 2 years of searching, I was referred to a specialist in pain management. The specialist took one look at my feet, and diagnosed me with RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy). At first, I didn’t know what that meant, but it didn’t sound good. The specialist informed me that it was a very rare disease, and was incurable. It basically meant that every message sent to my lower body area became a pain message, and the pain receptors in my body never turned off.

The news was devastating, and I felt defeated. The years following consisted of numerous visits to various doctors, all in an attempt to lessen the pain. However, no matter what we tried, it never worked. We were so desperate that we even discussed amputating my legs. However, in 2010, my Pain Management specialist suggested something that may work, called a Spinal Stimulator.
We scheduled the surgery, and waited anxiously for the day to come.

Eventually it did, and the surgery was a success. For the first time in 17 years, I felt relief. On that day in January, God answered my prayers. Throughout these past 20 years, God has blessed me with people to support, love, care for, and encourage me. These people consisted of my wife, Nancy, my children, and (for the past two years) my brother in Christ, Justin Willoughby. I watched Justin’s journey even before I knew him personally, and was encouraged at his dedication and devotion to his goals. He was completely dedicated to his transformation from who he used to be, to the Godly man I have come to admire. As someone that has gone through my own transformation it took a lot of hard work to leave the wheelchair and learn to walk again. I thank God for the strength he has given me and I feel blessed and encouraged to have people in my life like Justin that continue to encourage me daily.

GREG BEFORE AND NOW

That is transformation. Greg could have easily given up, but he chose to continue searching for answers. He chose to continue to find hope. This can be for every single one of us. I know it’s not just weight issues that my readers struggle with. They struggle with a variety of other things. Nothing is impossible. We can overcome our issues. It all starts with… ONE STEP.

#motivationmonday Your Food Addiction Can Cause These Problems…

#motivationmonday Your Food Addiction Can Cause These Problems…

I was thinking today. I noticed when I decide to eat cleaner and not overindulge in food, I tend to not have as many issues to face.

For instance..

1. When I overeat and indulge, and give into my addiction, I feel agitated and distracted for most of the day. I feel as if my attention is all over food. What will I eat next? My stomach is growling. That means I have to eat something that will satisfy me. All these thoughts go through my head. When I give my thoughts over to food like that, I tend to be distracted to what I really should be focusing on.

Answer: Focus your thoughts back on what truly matters at that moment. Food is just that, it’s food. It will be there when you are done with your task. I lean towards finding my answers in The Bible. God tells us to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ. In other words, don’t focus on the temptations and the thoughts that distract us from what we should be thinking about. Focus on whatever is good, right, true, lovely, admirable. When we retrain our thoughts, we can beat this addiction. (REF: Philippians 4:8)
Eating

2. When I overeat, I feel ugly, fat, and disgusting. This will impact my mood and I won’t act like the Justin I want to act like. I will act like a Justin who is totally different. Have you been there? My wife goes to talk to me but I am so miserable about myself, I tend to react in ways that I shouldn’t be reacting.

Answer: When you are tempted to overeat, try battling it with eating healthier more fulfilling foods. Try eating fruit instead of candy. Most of us don’t eat more than one banana, but we will go crazy on cookies and other treats. Try finding something different to do. Find something that will distract you from overeating. Maybe you will need to eat and then focus on a hobby. Try going for a walk, honestly, this can take your mind off of food. If we were to walk instead of giving into a junk food craving, we would save ourselves a lot of heartache.

Some of us may need less distractions. Some of us watch TV or search the internet as we eat. This can lead to mindless eating. If you’re eating and not thinking, you could end up eating more than you should.  Try treating food as if it’s a guest who deserves your respect and undivided attention. Focus, eat, and say goodbye or until next time.

This is a short list, but I touch on more in my upcoming e-book..
(Food Consumed Me: How I Overcame Food Addiction.)

The e-book will be available on my website on July 15th. Get ready to defeat this addiction!

#Scripturesunday Cast ALL of YOUR Anxiety On Him.

#Scripturesunday Cast ALL of YOUR Anxiety On Him.

I was given a scripture that helped me cope with my anxiety/panic attacks.
This helped me put my confidence in something other than myself. I didn’t have the answers to cope with my worries and cares. But I found freedom when I realized that God said to cast all of my anxiety on Him! That sounds hard to do at first, but once we do it… it sets us free!
